We are still in the process of buying our first home. About eight months ago, we moved and wanted to be sure we love where we are living before taking the leap of owning. In the meantime, we love bringing the kids and looking at open houses, to get ideas, feel out the community and see different layouts.
We recently were invited to tour Wayland Homes in Livermore, California, which is a William Lyon Homes Community. What I already knew about William Lyon Homes, is that they have this amazing attention to detail, and use of space! I was so excited to check out this new development, since I love driving through Livermore, which happens to be where my favorite high-end outlets are located!
We packed up the kids, and headed on our way to view Wayland Homes. The open house was so much fun and allowed us to tour 3 new model home floorpans on the Wayland site in Livermore. (Check them out HERE).
When we entered, we were warmly greeted with coffee, treats and a huge lunch buffet! There was also a balloon artist, who was willing to create just about anything for our excited littles!
It was nice to have so many options to keep the kids entertained while I explored these gorgeous homes! I really appreciated the kindness and warmth of the staff. It made us feel right at home!
Enough cute photos of my kids… NOW FOR THE DETAILS:
These homes are a perfect fit for families. Wayland has 3 two-story, single family layouts to choose from that have so many bonus features! All have backyards and such beautiful details throughout! No matter the size of the model (which range from approx. 2699 – 3,059 Sq. Ft.) the openness and use of natural light makes them look larger than life!
The kitchens open to the great rooms, and are great for entertaining! I love the backsplashes and gorgeous flooring! The extra cabinet space and pantries are huge for storage! Check out these kitchen and dining room photos:
And the CLOSET SPACE!! WOW! I could have slept in the master closets! I could just picture my shoes and handbags being displayed in each of them!
I loved the way the space was used in the backyards. They actually seemed to be bigger than they are with the covered patio/ California room, outdoor ceiling fans and fireplaces and the use of the side yard as a garden. All seemed low maintenance with artificial turf instead of grass. This has given me several ideas for my backyard in my future home.
I also love the bedrooms! Can I hire the interior decorator here please?! I can picture my kids living in these rooms and my guests having a place to stay as well. Each room has good closet space, a bathroom and lots of natural light. I love the tile in the bathrooms and the use of mirrors and cabinet space. And can we talk about the Master bedrooms and bathrooms? Seriously HEAVEN!
Since each home has two-stories, they also had a loft area on the top story! I have always had a thing for lofts. I love having a sitting area where my kids can play and watch T.V. that is near my bedroom and theirs. It is a great use of space. It could also be used as study area or even a place for guests.
I am looking forward to watching this community as it develops and flourishes. I partnered with my friend from PermaGrin Films for this post to capture this amazing drone video of the three model homes we toured, along with the lot and neighborhood! Check it out!

You’re right, Dani, the patios and yards are gorgeous! Looks like the kiddos loved everything too 😍
It was a fun day! Maybe you should look into moving there 🙂
Wow these homes look gorgeous! Seriously stunning and loved seeing how much fun the family had exploring.
I can’t wait to see the whole community after the homes are built!
Kind of obsessed with this house and your family is beautiful.

Wayland Homes looks amazing and I agree the interior designer did an great job! Love the tile in the bathrooms and the built-in closets. I love your style and your kids style as well!
Can’t wait to see what you dress them up as for Halloween. My brother lives in the Bay Area and is looking for a home, so I will pass this spot along!
Thank you for your sweet comments! Send your brother to Wayland Homes for sure 🙂
A lot of my friends are moving out of the South bay to the East bay… You can’t find new developments like this in the South Bay anymore so it is great to know these spacious developments are popping up. I have heard about Wayland homes before so thanks for sharing!! Love the bathrooms and lighting!
These homes are super spacious and the neighborhood is nice too!
