Shayne turned 7 months old on New Year’s Eve. Needless to say, we had a lot to celebrate!
She has recently mastered sitting up, and can entertain herself with her toys while sitting for quite a while at a time. It is such a cute developmental stage and she is very proud of her new accomplishment.
She also has her two bottom teeth and just loves showing them off with her adorable smile!
She has had so much activity this past month with the holidays and has really enjoyed every moment of it, but I can tell she is happy to be finally getting back into a routine. We are getting back on track with napping and sleep schedules, experimenting with new foods, and our normal activities.
Shayne is really enjoying solid foods and has really become a pro at it. She gets really excited when we put her in her highchair and cannot open her mouth quick enough when the spoon is approaching her. She even will feed herself if I give her the spoon.
So far, she has tried and loved, sweet potato, pear, avocado, apple, banana, prunes, black beans, mango, carrot, kale and blueberry. Soon, we are going to introduce some meats and more green vegetables for added iron and protein. There hasn’t been a food that she hasn’t liked yet so feeding time is really fun! She is still nursing several times per day, so I know she is getting all necessary vitamins from me and the foods are just a bonus. I have noticed that if I feed her some solids just before bed, she will sleep a longer stretch before waking up to nurse. This has been great for me since I was waking up 3 or 4 times per night before solids.
She is still the happiest and most mellow baby I know and just loves any and all attention, especially from Mommy. She loves tracking her brother’s every movement and is dying to be able to chase after him. I cannot wait to see what next month has in store for my baby girl!
