We have FINALLY completed our nursery, and I could not be happier with the results! I had a vision long ago, and I feel like it truly came together, and is even more beautiful than I had expected. I wanted a very calming environment for myself and our baby girl to quietly rock and bond, so light shades of grey was my first choice. I also decided to keep the walls white and clean instead of doing an accent color like I had originally wanted. I love the lavender and pink prints we selected as a slight pop of color without it being overwhelming.

We tried to make due with some furniture we already had, but ended up buying a few big items as well, including a simple, grey 3 in 1 crib by Child Craft (Kolton’s converts to a full-sized bed, so we decided our baby girl would need her own), which we found at Buy Buy Baby. We also bought the most comfortable and gorgeous glider by KACY Collection from Babies R Us. Both of which we had 20% off coupons for, so that brought down the cost quite a bit. The side table next to the glider was hand-made by myself when I was in 8th grade in my wood shop/ceramics class. The top is made from clay and the base and shelf is wood, of which we recently repainted to the light grey color it is now to match the room. The beautiful shag rug was a shower gift from my in-laws and was from Overstock.com. It was delivered quickly, with no shipping fees, and at an affordable price!

The above grey side table is from IKEA, which was a display item, so it was marked down 40%. The color matched the crib perfectly, so I couldn’t pass it up! The “LOVE” sign was also a shower gift and is from Pottery Barn Kids. I just love the vintage style of the letters, and how beautiful they look on the clean, white walls.

This adorable lamb diaper cake was made by my closest friend, Becky and was displayed at my baby shower! I just think it is too cute not to keep intact as long as we can!

The bedding is pretty much the only sign of pink in this room, and I just love the subtlety of it all. It was also a shower gift and was from Pottery Barn Kids. It came with the fitted sheet, the bumper (which we will remove when baby girl is rolling over for safety purposes), a white crib skirt and a gorgeous, paisley quilt. Th cute stuffed animals were all gifts. Each are so soft and snuggly.

One of my favorite items in the nursery is this stunning, hand-made mobile! This was a shower gift from my close friends Becky and Alia, and my sister-in-law, Sydney! This is from an adorable hand-made shop on Etsy (click HERE for link). The butterflies are made from paper lace, and are strung together with fishing wire and crystals. I was a little worried about how secure it would be over the baby’s head, but after testing it out in every way possible, we decided it is very well made and perfectly safe.

The dresser we already had and purchased from IKEA. We added a changing table topper from Target to make it work for the baby. It was easy to install and is easy to remove for future use. If I had the chance to do again, I would have chosen a lighter color rather than black for the dresser, but we had do make do with what we had. I do plan on painting it one day. Maybe a chalky white/grey color. Or even a turquoise would look pretty. The grey changing topper lightened it up a bit though, along with the lavender changing pad cover.

The adorable white shoes were mine as a baby, sent to me by my grandmother. I just could not believe that my feet were once that tiny! I included a photo of our 19 week ultrasound, and placed it in an off-white, vintage inspired frame from Michael’s.

The headband display holder was hand-made by myself from a grey candle pillar from IKEA and an empty Quaker Oatmeal container. I found a really neat DIY step-by-step on Pinterest (find it HERE), and after finding the perfect lavender fabric, I successfully made it myself. I will probably make another taller one soon, as I am sure she will have a lot of headbands in the near future.

Above the changing table, we added a floating shelf from IKEA to display whatever we want at the time. For now, I chose a framed musical sheet of ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’, two lamb decorations from the shower, a framed card from a very special friend of my Grandmothers, and the ‘LOVE’ canvas made by Kolton on Valentine’s Day for his baby sister (see how he made it HERE).

To the upper right of the glider, I found some vintage style frames from Michael’s and placed some of my favorite photos by Jaime Hayes from our family maternity shoot at the Beach & Boardwalk in Santa Cruz.

The white curtains hung over the window are actually black-out curtains from Amazon.com. They make the room super dark when needed, which we found to be very important with Kolton who would not nap if there was an ounce of light coming in. The adorable ceramic owl lamp and noise machine/night light are from Buy Buy Baby, and will definitely come in use.

Kolton loves his baby sister’s room. He comes in and wants me to sit on the glider and read him a story. Or he will bring his toys in and lay down on the soft rug and play quietly. It is so sweet that he feels so comfortable in there. I want him to be included every step of the way.

Thank you for reading,

Danielle xoxo
